New Longplayer merchandise just launched!
Longplayer 2025 Calendar, limited edition, £20 + P&P.
To celebrate Longplayer 25th birthday on the 31st December 2024, we are releasing a limited edition calendar of original artworks by artists who have had a musical relationship with Jem Finer, the composer of Longplayer. Each of these first edition calendars will be signed and numbered by Jem.
Collated and produced by Marcia Farquhar, and designed with Joe Hales, each month of the calendar features an original work of art responding to Longplayer.
The Longplayer 2025 calendar is, in Jem’s own words, ‘a testament to the enormous generosity of the friends and collaborators who have made such beautiful images and to Marcia’s vision and boundless enthusiasm’.
Longplayer is indebted to the contributions made by each of the artists, and to you, our community of listeners and supporters. Each purchase of a calendar will help to keep Longplayer playing into its next quarter century.
Pre-order yours now, launching Monday 9th December. The last day to order for Christmas arrival is the 18th December.
Limited edition: 250 numbered and signed by Jem Finer.
Contributing artists are: Andrew and Eden Kötting, Ansuman Biswas, Benedict Drew, Gina Birch, James Fearnley, Jazz Mellor and Brian Russell, Jimmy Cauty, Jock McFadyen, Kitty Finer, Nichola Bruce, Oona Grimes and Richard Wilson.
In our shop, you’ll also find a Longplayer notebook for £20 + P&P. Postcards and totebags will also be available from next week so stay tuned, and in the meantime you can find a Longplayer pin for just £5 + P&P!
Finally, there are less than 100 limited edition Longplayer Book and LPs by Jem Finer and Artangel (2000) remaining (£33 + P&P) so get yours before they are gone!
Containing essays by Janna Levin, Margaret & Christine Wertheim and Kodwo Eshun, a foreword by Michael Morris and an in-depth account of the development of Longplayer by Jem Finer, the book also includes a 12-inch vinyl record with four excerpts from Longplayer.
Buying Time
If you are looking for a unique gift for a loved one this year, why not consider sponsoring a date for them? If you’d like to commemorate a special day, as well as support the charitable work of The Longplayer Trust in 2025 and beyond, head to ‘buying time’ to sponsor one day of Longplayer’s calendar for £100.
By way of thanks, you will receive a unique signed score of your day (pictured below).
As well as writing a message for Longplayer’s online calendar, you will also be invited to display a personal object in the Buying Time Cabinet at our Trinity Buoy Wharf lighthouse listening post.
You can watch comedian Stewart Lee introducing Buying Time at its launch back in 2017 here.
This year, why not give the gift of time and help to keep a 1000-year-long composition playing?
