Longplayer is a continuous piece of music that repeats only after playing for 1000 years. Commissioned by Artangel and created by artist Jem Finer, Longplayer has been playing to the public for free since the turn of the millennium.

Longplayer has around 100,000 listeners a year from more than 150 countries. People visit our lighthouse location at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London, temporary locations worldwide, and attend our unique events largely because Longplayer offers a counterpoint to short-term thinking as well as a lasting way to reflect on the long-term future.

On midday of 31st December 2019 Longplayer will begin its third decade of continuous play and we plan to celebrate this significant milestone with a series of events at regular intervals throughout the year. Subscribe now to keep up to date with all the exciting developments.
